Who doesn’t like to be happy? Who doesn’t love to live life with a broad smile on their face? Who doesn’t want to live an abundant life? It’s obvious everyone wants these life goodies: the enjoyment, peace, and fun that come with them are invaluable. But oftentimes, we are so caught up with life that we do not know where we got it all wrong. And how to retrace our steps back to the time when we were genuinely happy seems like a herculean task. But whatever things might have happened to us, we always want to live an abundant life.
For those that are trying to find how to kickstart this process, here are six ways you can start living an abundant life.
1. Always be grateful
There are lots of things that are happening to you that others are not enjoying. You might not know this because you didn’t struggle to get them, but this doesn’t make it less of a privilege. So whenever you feel down and you think things are not working out for you, be grateful for the things you have and have accomplished. This is not only the time it’s needed but it has to be done every day. Showing gratitude for what you have will help rid your mind off what you don’t have while you work towards having it. For one, we don’t appreciate life the way we should because we never know hard things are for some people and sometimes when we do, it takes life-threatening situations or a new experience to make us see this. But we shouldn’t wait for this to happen before expressing gratitude. Aside from this, gratitude is positive energy and when practiced it is hard for someone to be on the negative chart of emotions. Make it a practice to express gratitude when you wake up, before you go to bed, and to everyone that helped you.
2. Smile, no matter what
Do you have anything to be happy about? Smile! Are you angry or probably don’t have any reason to be happy? Give a broader smile. Have you ever been around kids? You will discover how powerful and contagious their smiles are. A slight broadening of their cheeks can send all your worries away for that moment. To live an abundant life, you have to adopt the practice of smiling at all times too. According to science, when we frown we use and strain more of our muscles than when we smile. Also, a smile has a way of working on our psyche in such a way that when we engage in it, especially during the time we are not particularly happy, it happens to send positive signals to our body and that could relieve us. Also, putting a smile on your face sends positive signals to all of your systems and to others around you. With this, when the law of attraction sets in, you are sure to have lots of things to laugh about.
3. Begin your days in the right manner
Oftentimes, the energy with which we start our day shows how the day will be for us. So, if you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, you only tend to notice things that annoy you the more you carry on with your day. The influence the energy you start your day with has on your say is so strong that you can easily predict how your day would go even before you head out. Hence, you need to start your days the right way. The first step to take in achieving this is by waking up early every day. This will ensure that you have a couple of hours to yourself before the guy’s world wakes up. Also, this would prevent you from starting your day in a clumsy way, as you would have more than enough time to plan your day. When you wake up you can meditate due to the low level of distraction and if you are a religious person, you can pray. Finally, exercise to get your heart pumping blood to all the right parts of your body. Also, this is to make you feel more alive to start the day. So, while others are still sloppy trying to become fully awake, you are already fired up with lots of energy running through your body.
4. Build positive relationships around yourself
We are all social animals. Although, we cannot dispute the fact that some of us like the social arena more than others due to differences in temperament. We can all agree that we all need people that we can relate with, share things with, and also have fun with. Having nice relationships can increase your happiness as the things you do together will form good memories that would be useful for any time you need it. Also, by having a network of friends, you can easily get help, information, and ideas on various things that you don’t know. Friends can provide us the happiness and social life we need to live an abundant life.
5. Seek to do new things
One can only stay on a spot for so long in life before boredom and depression sets in. It’s an ever-changing world with limitless things in it. Why not do things that will make your heart beat faster and also expand your limits and potential? You can start by doing that thing too many are mostly afraid of doing. You can start the business you’ve always want to own or even fill in for the scholarship or raise. Live out of your comfort zone and you will see how things will turn out good for you. Alright! There is no point in sugarcoating things. There might be few hiccups but the goal you have set will always push you through until you achieve it. If you fail the first time, you learn, that way you will be certain to do it way better the second time than the first. Still on this, by trying new things, you are preparing yourself for opportunities. So whenever they come, you will be ready for them. While at this, you need to know what your strengths and your weaknesses are as they will help you make choices that would be suitable for you. Merely knowing this will tailor the skills that you acquire and the things that you do. Aside from this, it can streamline the list of opportunities that you see into the ones that you want. That way you won’t be operating with the law of accident.
6. Have the abundance mentality
This is a theory that states that there is enough for everyone, so someone’s gain doesn’t mean someone else’s loss. The abundance mentality can help you in viewing the world as less of a competition with others and more of a journey to self-realization. One major thing the abundance mentality is good for is that it gets rid of quite a number of negative emotions in you—emotions such as envy and jealousy, which are predominant in the scarcity mentality—and are replaced by good emotions. This also will prevent you from getting yourself worked up by other people’s success, as you know that yours is neither reduced nor suspended because of the successful person.
The world can be tiring at times and we are not denying that fact, but how we tackle the various happenings in life matter a lot. Its results will be seen in our mental health and other spheres of life. So, why not enjoy life to the fullest?
